Xiao Tao Wei was born in 1958 in Liu Zhou, a city in southern China. He is a researcher in the development of information in technology education and currently works for the Liu Zhou City Council Education Department. He is a member of the Liu Zhou Fine Arts Artists' Association of China and a standing director of the Fine Art Education Research Academy, focusing for many years on children's fine art educational research.
From childhood, Wei showed great talent in fine art and painting and developed an abiding interest in this field. He participated in a wide range of art competitions both in and outside school and won many prizes for his work.
Between 1978 and 1980, Wei studied fine art and painting at LiuZhouCityCollege where his knowledge and skills developed considerably. Completing his college studies, Wei began teaching and researching children's fine art education at JingHangPrimary School. During this eleven year period, Wei'x skills were further enhanced through instruction he received from the famous artists and educationalists, Wang Per Fang, Su Yan Ling and Jiang You Yu.
In 1983, Wei's paintings , "My Sky" and "Scebery" were exhibited both at home and abroad. Since then, Wei has continued to win many prizes at different art competitions and his work has been published on numerous occasions in the city press.
In recent years, Wei's works have again been displayed both at home and abroad. His landscape paintings, with terse language and rich intention, reflecting rational thinking and perceptual expression, not only illustrate traditional achievements, but also convey Wei's own personality and a modern consciousness. In the light of his works, Wei is appreciated as a philosophic artist, developing a new style within the modern Chinese painting forum.
